Jen discovered yoga while living in San Francisco in the late 1990s and started as an Ashtanga and Bikram student. After moving to New York City in 2001, she continued her studies, branching out to Jivamukti, Anusara, Hatha and Iyengar, She found the latter two helpful as she recovered from long term injuries and imbalances that were a result of her professional dance career.
In 2008 she started working as a Karma Yogi at her local Brooklyn Heights yoga studio Yoga People where she earned her 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teaching Certification with Yoga Alliance in 2013. The Yoga People community provided many influences and exposure to a wonderful flow of amazing teachers and fellow students.
Jen draws from all of the traditions she has experienced, from her background as a dancer, and from years of working to overcome injuries with physical therapy and other alternative healing. She enjoys teaching yoga to those recovering from injuries and with age-related physical challenges, and has received training in restorative, pre-natal, and teaching to persons with special needs. Her classes prioritize proper alignment and breathing while offering introductory poses accessible to all levels.
